| Do you realise that 80% of IMVU
developers just do it for fun? They are not interested in learning how
to make textures, or they were once but just gave up because it all
seemed to complicated. What they want to do is get products in the catalogue
and call them their own. The problem is these people have very few
options as to where they get their textures from, many will just Google
them, use free download sites or buy them. The main issue with this
apart from the legal side is these textures are often not optimised for
IMVU or they have been over used a thousand times. That's why I started
textures123.com, I help the 80% that everyone else forgets about, call thief's,
or just brush off because there skills have not developed enough yet. I
sell an instantly downloadable texture pack that contains just over 500
different hair textures, I also give a easy hair making tutorial,
basic catalogue icons, 20 clothing and accessories opacities and
textures, and a couple of extensive psd files, the eyes one has more
than 300 base colours and included lots of funky effects and shading.
Its a pretty good deal I think, took me weeks to put it all together and
guess what.. it sells like hot cakes :P
The biggest problem I have is marketing, those shoutouts you see me running cost me real cash, lots of it. One thing I REALLY hate doing is giving more money to IMVU, I'd much rather be giving it to YOU. so what I have done is created an 50/50 affiliate deal. By joining my affiliate program you make about $11 per sale. Its as simple as joining up with my billing company and placing a banner on advertising spots that you have for free on IMVU, places like your forum signature, your sales pages, groups and other sites. Its really up to you where you put them, keep in mind that the more people that see the more likely you are to make sales. So why not turn that dead space into profitable space! |
